5 things to do Every Morning /lifestyle/5-things-to-do-every-morning/ Tue, 16 Mar 2021 05:38:55 +0000 /?p=1101 Your morning routine is the most important becuase you can really create and set intentions for your day. Here are a 5 things you should do every morning. You can either watch the video here or read the full post below 1. Make your bed  The first one is making your bed. We were forced to do this when we were younger but honestly go and thank your parents right now. This makes you feel productive and puts your mind in “go” mode the second you get out of your bed. It’s a really great way to start your day because you have already completed the first task. From then on your mind is ready to tackle whatever the day brings. 2. Drink water Even if you think you don’t drink a lot of water during the day I’m sure your body hasn’t gone over 8 hours without it. So hydrate yourself the first thing in the morning. This will wake up all of your insides and clear up any morning mind fog. We sometimes take advantage of the little things we have in our lives. So give your body the gift of hydration in the morning. 3. Pray or Meditate  Having a moment of stillness is really important in the morning, I pray every morning so this gives me the perfect building blocks for my mindset to be the best during the day. You can meditate or just be still and let your mind wake up and organise itself. Starting your day with meditation will help you take control. You can decide how productive you are going to be, what you will get done, and create the mindset you want to experience your day with. Remember this doesn’t have to be sitting crossed legged for an hour if you do that’s amazing but you can also practice stillness when drinking your morning water or preparing tea. At this point, it’s good to be away from any other distractions like your phone because this time is important for your mind to be still. This helps set to yourself up to be more mindful throughout the day. Related Post : How to do a Digital Detox 4. Exercise  MOVE THAT BODY! Remember, you wouldn’t really spend 8 hours in one position during the day. So after you wake up, doing yoga or some light stretched is a great way to get your blood flowing in your body. I love doing child pose because it decompresses your lower back and that’s where a lot of the tension actually is during the night. The best thing is you can just give yourself five minutes when you wake up and do this in your bed. As you all know exercise releases endorphins, which not only make you happy but you get a buzz which can fuel your productivity and help you make the best decisions for yourself. 5. Plan your day  Planing my day is my favourite thing to do because I know the importance and how impactful a good plan can be. And just so you know I don’t do this every day, some days I’m not as productive at work but I’ll be productive with my self-care. Remember this is a journey, we all take different paths and go at a different pace. Be kind to yourself and take it easy  The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. Make each day the best you can and find your perfect balance. Remember some days are not going to be as productive as you want but that is always okay and you will learn to go with the flow.

How to have a healthy relationship with food. /lifestyle/how-to-have-a-healthy-relationship-with-food/ Tue, 16 Mar 2021 05:35:13 +0000 /?p=723 Make peace with what you eat and nourish your body. Here I will be sharing a few tips on how to have a healthy relationship with food. Disclaimer: In no way am I trying to tell you what to eat and how to eat it. I’m just sharing my journey to how I have personally developed a healthier outlook towards what I eat. I will always recommend seeing professional support you with your dietary needs. You can check out my video here or read the full blog post below So many of us may be struggling with emotional eating, binge eating, overeating or even undereating. I will be sharing my journey of how I overcame emotional eating and built a healthy relationship with what I eat. For those who know me, I love food, always have and have had a huge appetite but I also relied on it to help me feel better. I can recall being upset and talking to my mum then subconsciously I would reach for a packet of crisps. There are studies that salt reduces cortisol or something. Obviously, when I realised that I was so attached to salt making me feel better, I knew I wanted to change my mentality toward food So heres what I did about it  1. Keep a log of emotions every day and underneath keeping a list of things that I ate ( this also helped me be more mindful about the amount of food that I was mindlessly consuming) I associated the crunch and sodium with something that made me feel better because it did. But what we need to focus on is that this isn’t a healthy way to deal with stress. So I gave my self other alternatives  There are still days where i want donuts when im feeling down. And i get them – i get them because i am happy with the balance i have created. I love eating well and i love whole foods but i also love food in general and i dont ever want to feel bad about eating it. No one should. Accept what ever you do and want but make sure youre not using food as a way to deal with something that is in your mind 2. Listen to your body If you have a healthy relationship with yourself you will have a healthy relationship with food most days my husband and I follow an intermittent fasting schedule. It works well for us but just make sure you do your own research, women and men have different bodies so different thighs work. For example just before I get my period I need to eat all day and twice as much so I make sure I eat when I’m hungry no matter what because that’s what I know I need) — one more thing – sometimes we can confuse hunger with thirst so stay hydrated!  3. Theres no such thing as good food and bad food. Nothing is clean or dirty, food is food. Yes, we want to eat more nourishing food but it doesn’t mean eating one processed meal a weak is bad or something we should feel guilty about. I’ve always loved eating nourishing whole foods but now I love it even more. I love it more because I love my body. I know my body needs a balance of fats, proteins, pure carbohydrates and what not. So I want to give that to myself I see food as nourishment, not a punishment. From a young age, we can associate negative opinions towards things like vegetables because we’re forced to eat them. So we hate them when we’re adults and we have control. Again this is all about rewiring your mind and seeing it as nourishment, not punishment  4. Mindful cooking and eating Make the kitchen a happy place where you can connect with your food and cook with love and pure fresh ingredient. Digestion begins with your eyes. I like to take picture of my food to slow down and express my appreciation towards it. My husband and I sometimes count how many times we chew each bite to always focus on slowing down and making the most of each bite. This is my favourite way to have a healthy relationship with food. Related Post: How to be mindful 5. Create balance and flexibility We all hear in diets that carbs are bad. For me, after eating chips at night I wake up feeling really hungry or I go into a food coma. So I thought these foods were bad for me because I didn’t feel great. But that is not the case I just needed to learn why… turns out, your body overcompensates with insulin when you have only carbs so thats why you wake up feeling hungry. So thats why the healthy eating plate exists, so your plate can be balanced. Learn to educate yourself, see a nutritionist and learn about how these foods affect you. I had so many unhealthy views about different food, but now I know it’s just science. I’m not trying to tell you what to eat or why you feel certain things after you eat certain foods. Because that is for you to invest time into learning for yourself. I feel quite in tune with my body so I am sensitive to changes in food and I know the more I nourish my body the more I crave that. I know that I love food and trying different cuisines. I’m not interested in counting calories nor do I want to worry about having processed food once in a while. When we eat out the food we chose is naturally freshly made but I’m not going make my self feel bad for wanting a pack of crisps either. I will actively make the decision to say no because I know my body doesn’t need it and I won’t feel great afterwards but sometimes I will just be in the moment. Now eating plant-based whole foods and even cooking more often I feel connected with my food and I can influence how this will impact my body. I hope these tips help you gain an understanding of having a healthy relationship with food Respect love and adore your body  Sending you lots of love, Manpreet

How to say no with kindness /lifestyle/how-to-say-no-with-kindness/ Tue, 16 Mar 2021 05:31:42 +0000 /?p=1095 It can be really difficult to say no to others. We’ve all been there where we are stuck in a situation that we kindaa didn’t want to be in… I was definitely that person! So you can watch this video for my tips or read the full post below Saying no is not something we’re all able to do, it’s a skill we need to learn We often feel like we need to say yes and push ourselves to the limit. If we are not busy then we are not productive. However, that is the complete opposite. We need to slow down because if we say yes to these things we won’t have enough time or space in our lives for the things we ACTUALLY want.  It is important to help people and sometimes you can get away with prioritizing others. But in the long run, it will catch up with you and then you can start to feel burnt out or just completely neglect so many opportunities for yourself  I found myself coming up with a lot of white lies to justify why I couldn’t do something. Personally I never really said no but if I did I I felt like I owed that person a huge dramatic explanation. I believe I thought this way because I didn’t put any importance on myself How to say no with gratitude It’s a really freeing thing to just say no, thank you. I feel like we want to please people and we can feel guilt that’s heavy because we dont want to offend them. Remember saying no isn’t a bad thing. You can say no with grace and gratitude. Just saying no thank you, is a good way to remind the person that you’re glad they thought of you asked you to be a part of something but you don’t owe them anything. You don’t owe them an explanation or your time. Related Post: How to be positive everyday Remember you are responsible If people get offended or upset its on them. No one is responsible but them for their emotions. Just like no one is responsible for YOUR emotions except for yourself. Prioritise yourself  Say no with grace and gratitude  You’re not responsible for other peoples feelings  You’re responsible to say no when you need to  Sending you lots of love, Manpreet

Why self-reflection is so important /lifestyle/why-self-reflection-is-so-important/ Tue, 16 Mar 2021 05:28:19 +0000 /?p=1066 Self reflection allows you to see your own life in such a way that gives you time and deep understanding to make changes and improvements. I share some times and more information in this video or you can read the full post below Self reflection allows you to look back and analyse. You can gain a deeper insight into what improvements you can make. You also get a chance to embrace and celebrate your wins. Just remember to look at yourself and your life with an open mind. We have moments where big life events can make us reflect, like ending a work contract, finishing school, gettin married etc. But we forget that its important to do this everyday.  If you want to live a more conscious life and feel more in control reflection is one of the most powerful things you can do.  Reflecting on a daily basis has helped me become so much more in tune with my self and accepting mistakes I made during the day and celebrating my wins so I have a positive focus the next day. We get so lost in the future we lose connection to what is happening now. Journaling for self reflection Journaling is one of my favourite ways to reflect because the act of writing something down deepens the way your mind processes it and also slows it down.  It helps you understand and process your thoughts. Analyse it discusses it and break them down give yourself more control. Related Post: Planner for Self Care Agony aunt yourself In my journal I will rant and then ill end it with an answer because you have all the answers within you and you just need to release this too However things can get negative and sometimes we go into a cycle of negativity. So it’s important to actively think about whats a negative thought you can change. I like to end my entries with quotes or affirmations that I focus on rather than thinking I’m angry about something and its the right way to feel. Focus on creating a life you want. When we reflect, we can look at things we might be wasting time on and make sure we reduce those the next day. Become more aware of yourself  Become aware of all the little things that happen throughout your day. Not only will this help you improve your memory but also make you so much more aware. Our days can easily blur into one so reflecting can help you separate each day. Naturally, this will also allow you to track progress and allow you to see what areas of your life you need to focus on. As well as working on and what areas you’ve made progress in so you can celebrate those. Sending you so much love, Manpreet

How to be more organised every day /lifestyle/how-to-be-more-organised-every-day/ Tue, 16 Mar 2021 05:25:34 +0000 /?p=1058 Being organised is something that I had always wanted to master. I used to spend hours making sure my notes were perfect and easily accessible and colour coding my wardrobes. Pretty much everything I could, even my fridge). It gives me a sense of satisfaction and control. Which then leads to a productive happier day. Heres how I stay organised, you can check out this video or read the full post below 1. Write it Down This could be seen as obvious but it’s so important. You can write things down in many different places and in different ways. I would recommend keeping it all in one notebook/ planner/ or app on your phone. This way you can clear it and categorise whenever you have time. An example of how you can categorise is splitting it into 3 sections have a personal, work and random section. I find categorising lists is a really important way to be organised. No matter how good your memory is, life happens and we forget to make the most of writing it down.  I also have a shopping list and calendar that is shared with my husband, so we both have an updated version on our phones at all times.  I used to use this a lot because my family are foster carers so it’s great if you have kids. It’s great if you all need to know when there’s parents meeting, assemblies, uniform trips, buy books and appointments. So if one person forgets at least others have that reminder too. 2. Dedicate a day Spend a day, whether it’s Friday night so you’re prepped for a weekend full of fun or Sunday night to get you back into work mode. Spend this time doing your life admin stuff and organise everything. If we don’t give ourselves the time and space to be organised, everything can just pile up and lead to blocks in life.  During this day you can plan short term and long term social events onto your planner. This is a perfect time to; review the week, complete tasks on your list, grocery list, meal plan, budget, dates, social events and any extra life admin. 3. Create a system  Create a system to be more organised. One that starts the night before, you set the desk and you set the routine and then you create your plan. Keep it simple and minimal. It is also important to be open to change. Spend time doing the small things on a daily basis big things on a weekly basis and bigger things on a monthly basis.  Every day we wash up and sweep and dust etc because there is construction and lots of dust comes in  We do grocery and laundry and go out to eat, weekly. Every month we organise the cupboards and do a deep clean move sofa, clean mattress etc  4. Have a balance and time for self care As you all know I’m a huge advocate for prioritising self care. I think it’s so important to actually carve out time in your day or week for time for yourself. Even if things are not done on your list, move past it but never compromise when it comes to looking after yourself. I usually use my weekends for self care days but if I need to take it slow during the week day, I make sure I do that too. Related Post: Plan with me for self care 5. Time tracking I’m really good at estimating how long it takes me to do certain things. It has been a habit that I’ve had from when I was younger. If you don’t feel you have a good sense of time, try to write down the most detailed log of your day. Include shower time and getting ready, including how long you spend on your phone. It will be clear and you’ll naturally become more connected to how long you spend on things.  So once you have this figured out you can start using timers and block out your time too. So if you know it takes about ten minutes to clean your space then don’t spend a second longer doing that. This will help the flow of your daily routine be a lot smoother.  6. Declutter your tech and keep the load light  I specifically say technology because that’s where I spend most of my time and all my work is on there. So I clear my desktop every week when there’s clarity in the things you use most of your life will become clearer and you are in charge once again. If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that I cleared 9000 emails and it took me two hours. So now I go through it daily and unsubscribe from things I signed up to ten years ago so it is now its a habit. Also, this can relate to your physical space too. Put things away and give everything a home. Don’t ever let yourself think about doing it later because your mind can procrastinate and it can get really overwhelming when it builds up. It brings so much clarity and you know where everything is. 7. Be organised with the important stuff  When I was younger we all got given those harmonium style folders with passports, birth certificates and all our important papers. This is important because at the end of the day nothing else is REALLY as important. Like you can lose your notebooks, books pens , socks but not your passport. So get yourself a folder and keep everything in one space. I also take pictures of it all too because now people just need an emailed copy of these things so I have it all ready in a folder on my phone too. 8. Habit stacking  Put small habits together to create routine. For example when you wake up you; wake up, brush teeth, wash face, shower… but let’s say you want to add moisturise to that. Then you simply stack it with all the habits youre doing so it’s a solid routine Batch things together because you’re more effective with your time similar tasks together. This way, it’s less exhausting for your mind to flip through from one thing to another. For example, you wouldn’t start writing up an essay then start organising your fridge to then going back to emails. Yes maybe that’s good to get a break from 10. Simplify and minimise all areas I am not saying you need to be a minimalist and get rid of everything. However, you should focus on creating good quality work, even if that means doing one thing a day. If you do it well it’s something to be proud of and satisfied with. Do only what is essential. Simplify your to-do lists. Do the most important things first, because if you start your day doing the easy simple tasks, then the harder tasks will only get harder and feel more daunting. Whereas if you get them done at the start of the day then it’s like you’ve conquered the world biggest thing in the morning. Sending you all lots of love and good vibes x Manpreet

How to start Journaling /lifestyle/how-to-start-journaling/ Thu, 04 Mar 2021 10:46:05 +0000 /?p=1090 Journaling is a GREAT way to start your journey to discovering yourself and effectively understanding your thoughts.  I will be sharing some of the benefits of journaling  1. Journaling is like talking to your friend  Just like you would share a concern with your friend, you can share it with your journal too  and then when you’re in a better mindset you can work on developing your understanding of certain thoughts  2. Effective journaling can help you feel less overwhelmed  When you start to write down all the things on your mind you will start to feel more in control and things will feel easier to tackle. 3. You can recognise negative self-talk when you journal  We often don’t realise how negatively we can talk to ourselves but once we put it on paper it’s a bit more realistic  4. Journaling daily can help you  reflect  As you write in your journal, on a daily basis you will start to become more mindful adna ware of the thing you do and experience on a daily basis. Related Post: How to self reflect 5. You become more resilient  You start to be aware of your behaviours and the way you react to things in your day and then you realise you are in control of how you want to be. For example, I became more aware of the repetition of certain behaviour and when looking at it from a different external perspective  6. Journaling makes you more aware of how you can achieve your goals  Once you start to write things down you can also start to see the things that might be stopping you from achieving those goals. And then you have the ultimate realisation of knowing that there is nothing stopping you except for yourself. 7. Morning pages are a great way to get started  Just letting your thoughts flow is a great way to start work on understanding them. Don’t use a nice notebook and expect it to be neat, i did this and it actually held me back from things i wanted to write   You don’t need to have complete sentences and they don’t need to make sense This is just a great way of releasing your thoughts onto paper. I hope these tips were helpful and you can find the joys in journaling! Love + Light

Best Netflix Documentary, Heal Review /lifestyle/best-netflix-documentary-heal-review/ Thu, 04 Mar 2021 10:37:39 +0000 /?p=1080 I just wanted to share my overflowing appreciation for the Netflix documentary “Heal”. It’s so important when it comes to teaching you about the spiritual aspect of healing. There are so many people from different walks of life sharing their experiences on their journey of self awareness and healing with the power of the mind. There is science behind the way your mind works and this documentary goes into perfect detail. Watch my video below for more of a summary and let me know what you think! Another related post that you may be interested in is How to practice spiritual self care As you all know self care is very important to me and watching the documentary will help you heal yourself and learn so much about how you can also continue healing yoruself A few points from Heal I highly recommend the documentary Heal, it is jam packed with amazing powerful information. I really believe that is can inspire you to change your life and heal in such a beautiful way. Heal is a documentary that talks about how we can meditate and create a powerful mind body connection. We underestimate how powerful our bodies are when it comes to physically healing our illness or disease. Not only is healing related to meditation there is so much scientific evidence supporting this too. I have personally experienced a powerful connection with mysefl and my body. Also before we believe that meditation can fix everything there are so many moments where western medicine is known to be so so powerful and it is saving lives. the best thing about heal is that it doesn’t disregard western medicine it just relies on it when we need to. We need to stop going towards medication for the small things and give our body the true power to actually heal. I hope this helps you as much as it helped me! Love + Light
